State of the Union – Obama Speech (2010)

1. Bush has a short one. Sarkozy has a long one. Cher does not use hers. What is it?

2. Is it concession speech? 31 million uninsured; 45,000 deaths annually due to lack of health insurance, according to Harvard study. #SOTU

3. Keeping a poker face & sitting with starry eyes (or dismissive toned) for 90 minutes is no easy job. Kudos to Chief Justices, Joint Chiefs.

4. Obama mentions Dick Cheney with ‘schoolyard taunts’. “Let’s put aside the schoolyard taunts about who is tough.” #SOTU

5. Obama to GOP naysayers: “Just saying no to everything might be good for politics; but that is not leadership” is refreshing. #SOTU

6. Last year’s #SOTU – Health, energy, education – the new new deal; This time all of them were there with boldfaced deficit & debt reduction

7. Republicans stiffness with anything Obama is gently chided with mention of ‘not appreciating the speech even when he talks abt Job creation’

8. No axis of evil; no war on terror declaration; not even Islamic terrorism. boring SOTU speech by president is substancy & principled.

முதல் தடவையாக ஒபாமாவிற்கு திருமதி. கிளின்டன் தன் ஆதரவை பொதுவில் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். இதன் போது ஒபாமாவை மிகவும் பாராட்டிப் பேசினார் உதாரணத்திற்கு சில வரிகள்.

“If you think we need a new course, a new agenda, then vote for Barack Obama and you will get the change you need,” she told the cheering crowd.

“He will work for you, he will fight for you and he will stand up for you every day in the White House.”

இதேவேளை ஒபாமா, கிளின்டனின் முன்னய தேர்தல் பிரச்சார கடன்களையும் அடைத்துள்ளார்.

இதன் மூலம் ப்ரைமரியில் பிரிந்திருந்த டெமொகிரட்டிக் ஆதரவாளர்கள் ஒரு குடையின் கீழ் வரும் சாத்தியம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது.
